In the fall of 2017, I participated in 601: Critical Thinking and 630: Creative Thinking in Literature and the Arts.
Through the thematic and circular nature of both courses, I built on my existing ideas and principles about both critical and creative thinking. Though taking both courses at the same time was sometimes challenging, overall I felt that my thinking expanded rapidly and my teaching practice, in particular, shifted as a result.
In the spring of 2018, I took 602: Creative Thinking.
As an extension of this course's overview of the ways people have historically and currently look at creative thinking, I began examining my own teaching of creative processes. This led to a final project that critically analyzed a poetry project and unit in my own classroom.
